George Stockton

Services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Monday, August 16, at First Presbyterian Church for George S. Stockton, Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Stockton, 86, died Thursday, August 12, 2004 at his home. Rev. E.W. Bo Lewis will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bob Smith, Kent Springer, Bob Needham, Jesse McGary, Howard Crausby, and David Dillard. Honorary pallbearers will be all Men's Senior Golfers. Mr. Stockton was born September 30, 1917 in Roswell, New Mexico; the son of Oscar Stockton and Betty Kibler Stockton. On February 27, 1941 he was married to Mildred Springer in Clovis, N.M. He came to Artesia in 1954 from Carlsbad, N.M. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He was owner and operator of Universal Equipment and was a member of First Presbyterian Church, and the Men's Golf Association. Survivors include his wife Mildred Stockton of the family home; son Dan Stockton of Phoenix, Arizona; brothers James Stockton of Roswell, and Joe Stockton of Lubbock, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
