George Humphreys

Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday February 27, at Woodbine Cemetery for George B. Humphreys of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Humphreys, 90, died on Monday, February 20, 2017 at his home.

Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday.

George was born on March 30, 1926 in Jefferson County, Mississippi; the son of Mason Humphreys and Maggie Nevels Humphreys.

He came to Artesia in 1951 from Texas. He owned and operated a trucking business in Artesia servicing the oil field industry for many years. He was a collector and enjoyed collecting many different things.

He was married to Helen Burnett on April 1, 1974 in Alamogordo, New Mexico. She preceded him in death on November 20, 2014.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, a brother, two sisters and two grandchildren.

Survivors include sons Richard Humphreys of Lampasas, Texas and George V. Humphreys of Vietnam; a daughter Glenda West of Artesia, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
