Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 am Wednesday, May 27, 2020, at West Main Baptist Church for George A. Chase, Sr. of Artesia, New Mexico.
Mr. Chase, 92, died peacefully Saturday, May 23, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.
Belton Mathews will officiate at the services with burial to follow at Twin Oaks Memorial Park, Artesia, NM. Pallbearers will be J.T. Jackson, Tommy Brewer, Rusty McKee, Ronnie Wilbanks, Raye Miller and Kent Whitmire. Honorary Pallbearers will be Eddie LaRue, John Dowell, Jim Pollock, grandsons and great-grandsons.
Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary from 2 pm-4 pm on Tuesday, May 26, 2020.
George was born January 31, 1928, the son of Edgar Robert and Etta Marie (Richards) Chase in Bovina, Texas.
George married Neva (Galatian) July 28, 1951 in Lovington, NM.
He was a lifetime resident of the Loco Hills/Artesia, New Meixco area. He owned and operated Chase Well Service as well other related oilfield entities. His lifetime passion was supporting God's work through various churches and their youth groups. He was devoted to his family. In his younger years he helped build roads in the mountains and worked for Otero County Electric. He drilled the first Potash mine test hole in 1955. George displayed honesty and hardwork to those around him which has continued throughout the generations. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of the family home, children and their spouses. Kathy Ann Brewer, Albany, TX, Karen Miller, Artesia, NM, Linda and David Riesz, San Antonio, TX, George and Jennifer Chase, Artesia, NM. He was PaPa to10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by daughter Billie Kelley, infant son, Bobby, son-in-laws Gary Brewer, Joe Miller, Max Kelley. Other survivors include brothers Mack Chase, Artesia and Jim Chase, Albuquerque, NM, sisters Shirley Blancet, husband, Cookie, Lovington, NM, Nona Brewer, husband, Tommy, Artesia and numerous nieces and nephews. Proceded in death by brother Bill and wife, Lenna Chase, sisters Vera and husband Oscar Doughty and Margaret and husband, Clay Montgomery, and sister-in-laws Mairlyn Chase, Laveeta Chase and Naomi Chase.
