Freddy Ortega

Services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 29, at Terpening Son Chapel for Freddy S. Ortega of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Ortega, 55, died Sunday, December 21, 2014 in Florence, Colorado.

Pastor Oscar Guerrero will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bobby Olguin, Albert Ortega, Sammy Sanchez, David Aguilera, Juan Acevedo, Lius Machuca, and Robert Ortega.

Freddy was born December 26, 1958 in Artesia, New Mexico the son of Epolito Ortega and Lilia Sanchez Ortega. He was a longtime Artesia resident.

He worked as a farm laborer and was an avid outdoorsman including fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed collecting antiques.

Freddy was preceded in death by his mother brothers Raymond and Epolito Ortega, Jr., and Danny Sanchez and a sister Gloria Martinez.

Survivors include his father Epolito Ortega of Artesia daughters Melissa A. Ortega of Artesia, Evelyn N. Ortega of Lubbock, Texas, and Camille A. Ortega of Artesia son Freddy M. Olivas of Roswell, N.M. sisters Carolina Hernandez of Hobbs, N.M., and Sylvia Olivas of Roswell brothers Albert Ortega of Las Cruces, N.M., Jimmy Sanchez of Artesia, Robert Ortega of Hobbs, and Richard Ortega of Amarillo, Texas 16 grandchildren and a greatgrandson.
