A funeral service is scheduled for 10 am Friday, October 21, at Terpening & Son Chapel for Fred James York of Artesia, New Mexico.
Mike Adams will officiate at the services. Burial will follow at the York Cemetery on Dayton Road.
Fred passed away and flew to heaven October 16, 2022. Fred was born in Lovington, New Mexico on May 24, 2938.
He was preceded in death by his parents Arch and Maggie York of Lovington.
He married the love of his life Leora Mae Scott on July 5, 1949 and they enjoyed 73 years of marriage.
Fred is survived by his loving wife Leora, and three daughters, Sherry York, Sue and husband Walter Bradley, Betty Blanton, and 8 grandkids, 20 great-grandkids, and 13 great-great-grandkids.
Fred spent his early years cowboying on several ranches, and was the last living member of New Mexico Sheep Sanitary Board before becoming a New Mexico Livestock inspector in both Lea and Eddy Counties. York was a man of many talents, a Jack of all trades and a cowboy master of all. Fred was a splendid story teller and kept his hospice ladies and chaplain entertained until his last days.
