Frankie Laman

Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 22, at Faith Baptist Church for Frankie Opal Billie Laman of Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Laman, 82, died Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at Artesia Good Samaritan Center. Pastor Michael Elliott, Mike Duff, and Cheto Moreno will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bernard Cleve, Jim Ellett, Tim Jennings, Jay Powell, Jimmy Olguin, and Dennis Tidwell. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons, nephews, and Andres and Alfredo. Mrs. Laman was born February 9, 1926 in Sweetwater, Oklahoma; the daughter of William Franklin Martin and Martha Francis Randall Martin. She came to Artesia in 1942 from Oklahoma. On February 24, 1945 she was married to Cecil Jennings Laman in Carlsbad, N.M. Billie was a homemaker and most happy cooking and sewing for her family. She also enjoyed fishing with her brothers and sisters at family reunions. She was preceded in death by her partents; sisters Eva Holt, and Effie Montgomery; brothers Marvin Bud Martin, Junior Martin, Willie Martin, and Jimmie Martin; and grandson Brannon Lynn Clark. Survivors include her husband Cecil Jennings Laman of the family home; daughter Margaret Laman Clark of Artesia; son Ronnie Laman of Artesia; sister Alta Margaret Walker; grandchildren Dera Clark and wife Donna of Norman, Oklahoma, Billy Gene Clark and wife Debra of Dallas, Texas, Michele Robison of Artesia, and Robin Dunnavant and husband Ronnie of Artesia; great-grandchildren Ray Jennings Clark, and Cooper Brian Clark of Norman, Oklahoma, Brannon Santiago Clark and Bryce Vicente Clark of Dallas, Texas, Miranda Jo Robison, Jacob Karl Robison, Jayson Robert Robison, Daniel Gene Laman, Lucas Allan Kern, Faith Lynn Dunnavant, Taylor Johnson, and Cierra Dunnavant all of Arteisa; and many nieces and nephews.
