Frank Devine

Closed casket services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 25 at Faith Baptist Church for Frank Devine, 1009 W. Hermosa Drive, Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Devine, 78, died Thursday, November 20, 2008 at in Lubbock, Texas.

Rev. J. B. Craft and Rev. Ira Dozier will officiate at the services. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Avis Cemetery in Avis, N.M. Pallbearers will be Corey Bradford, Brian Bradford, Ira Dozier, Brandon Devine, Joe Greenwood and Danny Forlines. Visitation at Terpening amp; Son Mortuary will begin at 10:00 a.m. Monday.

Frank was born January 16, 1930 in Cloudcroft, New Mexico; the son of Daniel Devine and Annie Romines Devine. Frank grew up in the Sacramento Mountains. He stayed for some extended time in the Portales Childrens Home at which time he was able to make his home with the Munson Family in Sacramento, N.M. He came to Artesia in 1944 from Pinon, N.M.

On Jan. 17, 2004 he was married to Edith Newman in Pinon.

He was a Line Superintendent for Central Valley Electric Cooperative for 37 years and a member of Pinon Baptist Church. Frank was initiated into the Masonic Lodge in 1961 and was the Past Master in 1966 and in 1995. Frank also joined Eastern Star in 1965 and remained very active in both until his passing. He was also a member of the Artesia Museum Board of Directors.

Frank loved his Lord, his family, playing music and singing, and enjoyed his life making the people that surrounded him happy. Frank loved the Sacramento Mountains and even wrote a song named Sacramento Mountain Blues.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Evelyn Lois Devine in 1973, second wife Ann Smith Devine in 1997, brothers Charles Devine and Dan Devine, and a sister Jo Ann Green.

Survivors include his wife Edith Devine of the family home; a son Jim Devine of Artesia; daughters Franki Fox of Las Cruces, N.M. and Sherry Fleming of Tinnie, N.M.; step-daughters Karen Forlines of Artesia, Becky Shipman, and Kathy Greenwood of Artesia, brothers Arnold Burrage of Santa Fe, N.M. and Eddie Burrage of Clovis, N.M.; grandchildren Corey Bradford, Brian Hathorn, Ira Dozier, Brandon Devine, Leslie Devine, Brody amp; Stevi Ray Fox; eight great-grandchildren; and seven step-grandchildren.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Portales Baptist Childrens Home, P.O. Drawer 629, Portales, NM 88130.
