Francisca Velo

Services are scheduled for 10am Monday, August 28, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Francisca H. Velo of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Velo, 69, died on August 23, 2023 at her home in Artesia.

Father Vijay will officiate at the services with burial to follow at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Daniel Velo Jr., Ethan Velo, Chris Delgado, Martin Hinojos Jr., Joe Hinojos, Antonio Rand, Luke Carter & Christopher Carter. A rosary is also scheduled for 6:00 PM on Sunday at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.

Francisca was born on April 18, 1954 in Carlsbad, New Mexico; the daughter of Heriberto Hinojos and Celestina Saiz Hinojos.

Frances will be lovingly remembered for her love for her family, her dedication to her community and being a Bulldog superfan. She enjoyed cheering on her grandchildren at all academic and sporting events and loved showing off their wonderful accomplishments to everyone she could. As a bus driver for Artesia Public Schools for over 30 years, she impacted many lives of staff and students. Frances was a woman of many passions that include sewing, crafting, cooking, baking and dancing. She leaves a legacy of faith, compassion, strong values and hard work ethic, that will continue on forever.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Martin Hinojos and Andy Hinojos and a sister Mary Lumpkin.

Survivors include her husband Ubaldo Velo; sons Adam Velo and Daniel Velo; daughters Melissa Delgado and Sara Velo; daughters in law Yolie Velo, Iris Velo; son in law Chris Delgado; brothers Henry Hinojos, Johnny Hinojos and Donovan Valdibieso; sisters Virginia Calvillo, Margarita Garcia, Julie Reyna, Cecil Morales, Sandy Hinojos, Delia Hinojos, and Barbara Reyna; also by 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
