Memorial services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 16, at Hope United Methodist Church, Hope, N.M., for Frances Barley of Hope.
Mrs. Barley, 83, died Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at her home.
Travis Husted and Don Johnston will officiate at the services. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening Son Mortuary. Honorary pallbearers will be Will and Molly Crockett, Mike Casabonne, Mary Liz Casabonne, Phyllis Crockett, Catarino and Lupe Varelas, all CBS and church friends, and the owners of Marthas Fabric.
Frances was born May 17, 1929 in Riceville, Tennessee the daughter of Fred Perkinson and Frances Elizabeth Jenkins Perkinson. She came to Artesia in 1948 from Tennessee.
On June 3, 1948 she was married to Robert M. Barley in Athens, Tenn. He preceded her in death March 9, 1997.
She was a homemaker and farm wife. She was a member of Hope United Methodist Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, W.S.C.S., Yucca Cowbelles, past president of the N.M. State Firefighters Auxiliary Assoc., Sheriffs Possettes, Farm Bureau, Lay Minister, Community Bible Study, past secretary for the N.M. Holstein Assoc., and 4H leader. She was an excellent seamstress sewing for Marthas Fabrics.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents and by two brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include sons Steven Wayne Barley and wife Heidi of Hope, Joel Robert Barley and wife Cindy of Artesia, Dick Nelson Barley and wife Sandy of Las Cruces, N.M. daughter Rebecca Frances Eubank and husband Kenny of Los Lunas, N.M. ten grandchildren and eleven greatgrandchildren.
