Services are scheduled at 10:30 A.M. Friday, April 23 at First Christian Church for Frances L. Mama Baer, Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Baer, 81, died Saturday, April 17, 2004 in Roswell, New Mexico. Her grandson Ryan Baer will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons: Cory Baer, Derrick Baer, and Justin Baer; and alumni of Mama Baer's Day Care: Dusty Simons, Sid Giles and John Sellers. Mrs. Baer was born March 31, 1923 in St. Louis, Missouri; the daughter of Gilbert Brine and Clara Brine. On February 15, 1947 she was married to Harold R. Baer in Chicago, Illinois. They came to Artesia in 1968 from Roswell. He preceded her in death April 18, 1979. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and by a brother Elmer Brine. She owned and operated Mama Baer's Day Care; and was an active member of the First Christian Church. She was a lifetime member of the Parent and Teachers Association; member of the New Mexico Extension Club; and an honorary lifetime member of the Artesia Chamber of Commerce. Survivors include sons Larry Baer and wife Jamie of Plano, Texas, Rick Baer of Artesia, and Raymond Baer and wife Michelle of El Paso, Texas; a sister Loretta Polette of Bonne Terre, Missouri; sister-in-law Imogene Brine of Knoxville, Tenn.; and grandchildren Ryan Baer of Irving, Texas, Derrick Baer of Artesia, Cory Baer of Midland, Texas, Justin Baer of El Paso, Texas, Deena Baer of Artesia, and Kristen Baer of El Paso.
