Floyd Economides

Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31, at St. Anthonys Catholic Church for Floyd Arnold Economides, Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Economides, 85, died Monday, January 27, 2014 at his home.

Burial will be at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Sherrill Gurley, Don Alam, Ray Taylor, A.A. Klein, D.E. Cuthbertson, Harold Huntsman and Danny Scott.

A rosary is also scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Terpening Son Chapel. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary beginning at noon on Thursday.

Floyd was born June 25, 1928 in New Orleans, Louisiana the son of Basile Economides and Susan Uhle Economides.

On Dec. 1, 1948 he was married to Belle Hebert in Houma, Louisiana. They came to Artesia in 1951 from Louisiana.

He served in the United States Marine Corps during Korea.

He was an electrician for Navajo Refinery. He was a member of St. Anthonys Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, C.A.S.A. for 25 years, Good Sams R.V. club for 22 years, played professional baseball, served on the Artesia City Council for 32 years, coached American Legion Baseball, was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and was instrumental in fundraising for various organizations.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Survivors include his wife Belle Economides of Artesia son Curtis Economides and wife Jeannie of Artesia brother Lionel Economides of Covington, Louisiana 4 grandchildren and 3 greatgrandchildren niece that grew up in the household Bonnie Hebert King and husband Frank of Big Canoe, Georgia.
