Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 25, at PMrs. Mullen, 96, died Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at her home.
PRev. Thomas Ford will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Randy Mullen, Rufus Mullen III, George Mullen II, Michael Mullen, Marquez Bowman, and Lance Gunn. Visitation at Terpening amp Son Mortuary will begin at 2:00 p.m. Sunday.
PFlorence was born September 25, 1913 in Jeanerette, Louisiana, the daughter of George Alexis and Elizabeth Todd Alexis. She graduated from Charlton Pollard High School in Beaumont in 1933.
POn Aug. 15, 1938 she was married to Rufus Mullen in Beaumont They moved to Weed, N.M. in 1949 from Beaumont and came to Artesia in 1951. Her husband preceded her in death Nov. 25, 2001. She was also preceded in death by sons Donald Mullen and Charles Thomas Mullen, and by a grandson Christopher George Mullen.
PShe was a housekeeper and longtime member of Bethel Baptist Church. She was a member of Pilgrim Rest Chapter 11 and the Prince Hall Grand Chapter Order of Eastern Star.
PSurvivors include sons Edward Mullen and wife Laverse of Artesia, Rufus Mullen, Jr. and Rosalie of Flagstaff, Ariz. and George Mullen and wife Regina of Artesia daughters Lois Gunn of Houston, Texas and Marietta Bowman and husband Robert of Roswell, N.M. 13 grandchildren, 23 greatgrandchildren, and numerous cousins.P
