Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, January 21, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Felix C. Fierro of Artesia, New Mexico.
Mr. Fierro, 86, died Sunday, January 17, 2010 at the Artesia General Hospital Emergency Room.
Fr. Paul Murtagh SS.CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Tony Fierro, Jr., Steven Fierro, Dylan Grado, Gilbert Grado, Gabriel Grado, Jeff Fierro, Nick Fierro, Michael Fierro, and honorary pallbearer Matthew Fierro.
Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary Wednesday beginning at 10:00 a.m. A rosary will be at Our Lady of Grace Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
Mr. Fierro was born October 22, 1923 in San Antonio, Texas the son of Reyes Fierro and Melquidez Chavez Fierro.
He came to Artesia in 1928 from Presidio, Texas. On January 3, 1944 he was married to Victoria Florez in Artesia. She preceded him in death February 23, 2002. He was also preceded in death by his parents sister Elisa Natera and brother Manuel Fierro.
Felix was a CPI for Navajo Refinery where he retired from in 1986. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, and the Crusillo. He was an avid outdoorsman including hunting, fishing, and also looking for arrowheads. His most favorite pass time after retirement was going to the Casinos and visiting the senior center.
Survivors include his daughters Lupe Atencio and husband Bill of Albuquerque, N.M., and Christina Grado and husband Martin of Artesia sons Tony Fierro and wife Dora of Artesia, Sammy Fierro and wife Rosemary of Artesia, and Felix Fierro, Jr. and wife Olga of Artesia sisters Suzie Fierro of Albuquerque, and Dalia Moreno of Artesia brothers Joe Cano of Edgewood, N.M., and Alcario Fierro of Albuquerque 11 granchildren 2 stepgrandchildren 18 greatgrandchildren 3 stepgreatgrandchildren 2 greatgreatgrandchildren 3 stepgreatgreatgrandchildren.
