Felix Chavez

Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Felix Jasso Chavez of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Chavez, 68, died Sunday, December 16, 2012 at his home.

Fr. Brian Guerrini, SS.CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mark Chavez, Jeff Chavez, Phillip Ochoa, Michael Ochoa, Joe Gomez, and Lupe Mariscal.

Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary Wednesday beginning at 10:00 a.m. A rosary will be at Our Lady of Grace Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

Felix was born July 29, 1944 in Marfa, Texas the son of Francisco Chavez and Sulema Jasso Chavez. He came to Artesia in 1957 from Texas.

On Feb. 5, 1965 he was married to Beatrice Sandate in Carlsbad, N.M.

Felix was a Realestate agent and an Appraisor. He owned and operated Artesia Realestate for 40 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, and the Artesia Planning and Zoning Committee.

Felix was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Teofilo Chavez.

Survivors include his wife Beatrice Chavez of the family home sons Feliz Chavez, Jr. of Las Cruces, N.M., Steven Chavez and wife Jessica of Artesia, and Patrick Chavez and wife Corina of Artesia sisters Angela Truby and husband Jim of Toledo, Ohio, Ann Epstein of Macon, Georgia, and Elisa Ochoa of Artesia brothers Joe Chavez and wife Sue of Carlsbad, Frank Chavez and wife Margaret of Roswell, N.M., Edmundo Chavez and wife Andrea of Artesia, and Johnny Chavez and wife Debbie of Las Cruces grandchildren Donavan Rogers, Phillip Chavez, Julio Ramirez, Issac Chavez, Sierra Chavez, Emiliano Chavez, Maurico Chavez, and Israel Chavez.
