Felicitas Montez

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 13, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Felicitas Alvarez Montez of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Montez, 77, passed away on March 9, 2019 at her home.

Fr. Vijay will officiate at the services. Burial will follow the services at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rito Montez, Ernest Montez, Ruben Montez, Antonio Gonzales, Juan Marcos Muniz, Freddie Montez and Arturo Gonzales, Jr.

A rosary will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace.

Felicitas was born January 9, 1942 in Chihuahua, Mexico to Cruz Alvarez and Emeteria (Salinas) Alvarez. She came to Artesia in 1970 from Mexico.

She was a housewife and a member of Our Lady of Grace. She enjoyed playing with her children and grandchildren, baking and cooking and spending time with her family. Felicitas had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Ramon Alvarez and Guadalupe Alvarez, sister Emma Sanchez and son Hector Montez.

Survivors include her sons Ruben Montez of Albuquerque, NM, Rito Montez and wife Susana of Los Lunas, NM, Freddie Montez of Albuquerque and Ernest Montez of Artesia; daughters Estela Gonzales and husband Arturo of Artesia, Luz Elva Muniz and husband Juan of Artesia and Gracela Montez of Roswell, NM; brother Felipe Alvarez of Juarez, Mexico; sisters Rafaela Lopez and Socorro de Chavez of Chihuahua, Mexico and Inez Ferrales of Albuquerque; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
