Faustino Luna Sanchez of Artesia, NM, passed away on May 4, 2024, at the age of 76. He was born on December 21, 1947, in Zacatecas, Mexico, to Jose Maria Sanchez and Maria Elena Luna-Sanchez.
He was the third oldest of 9 siblings and spent all of his childhood in Mexico. He immigrated to the US in 1971 and spent most of his time in West Texas and New Mexico but maintained a strong pride in his Hispanic heritage and a fierce love for his family in Mexico.
Faustino built strong connections within his family and community, always ready with a joke, a helping hand, or a story for every situation. He enjoyed playing pool, spending time with family, cooking, and chatting with friends whenever the opportunity arose.
He was a hard worker who spent much of his work life building roads in Texas and New Mexico and retired from the state/county road departments. Never one to be idle, he started his own business and became known for his red truck with "Sanchez Carpet Cleaning" across the side. He brought a skilled hand and a smile to every place he cleaned, and his business thrived until he retired.
Faustino is survived by his devoted wife, Elma Sanchez; his children David Sanchez, Diana Sanchez (spouse Cara), Veronica Sanchez (spouse Juan), Sonia (spouse Dean Samora), and Stephanie Carbajal; as well as his cherished grandchildren Lluvia, Ashley, Kayla, Jaziel, Karlyanna, Natalia, Elianna (spouse David), Diego, and Calina, along with seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his immediate family, Faustino is mourned by his siblings Jesus, Rosalinda, Graciela, Javier, Armando, Martin, Martha Elena, and Gabriela, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandchildren Jacob Carbajal and Ciara Tesillo.
In honoring his wishes, there will not be services held locally. His remains will be transported to Zacatecas, where he will be buried alongside his parents.
Faustino Luna Sanchez will be fondly remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his jovial spirit, and his dedication to hard work. He touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
