Services are scheduled at 10:00AM Saturday, November 22, at Terpening Son Chapel for Evelyn Vandenberg, 1101 Bullock Ave., Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Vandenberg, 80, died Sunday, November 16, 2003 at Artesia Good Samaritan Center. Pastor Don Price and Pastor Bobby Argo will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bill Vandenberg, Vitus Vandenberg, John Vandenberg, Kevin Vandenberg, Chris Vandenberg and Mike Vandenberg. Honorary pallbearers will be Nubbin Crouch, Stephen Vandenberg, all other grandchildren, and the Young at Heart Sunday School Class. Mrs. Vandenberg was born September 21, 1923 in Cowden, Oklahoma; the daughter of Byron Milward and Flora Miller Milward. On Jan. 8,1946 she was married to Nicholas C. Vandenberg in Sayre, Oklahoma. She came to Artesia in June 1974 from Gettysburg, S.D. He preceded her in death Oct. 20, 1991. She was a housewife and member of Trinity Temple Assembly of God. She loved to listen to guitar music, and loved her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Charles Vandenberg, 2 sisters, a brother and 2 grandchildren. Survivors include sons William N. Vandenberg of New Braunfels, Texas, and Vitus M. Vandenberg of Artesia;, daughters Irene E. Jacobson of Rosemont, Minnesota, W. Katherina Smith of Colorado, and Rose M. Simmons of Price, Utah; sisters Margie Harrall of Weatherford, Oklahoma, and Bell Argizu of Phoenix, Arizona; 18 grandchildren including Anna Lewis of Artesia, and Amy Vandenberg of Artesia; 9 great-grandchildren.
