Eva Franco

Services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, December 21 at the Victory Life Fellowship for Eva C. Franco, Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Franco, 86, died Wednesday, December 18, 2002 in Hobbs, New Mexico. Pastor Alex Hernandez will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Her sons will serve as pallbearers. A prayer service is also scheduled for 7:00 P.M. Friday at Terpeninq Son Mortuary. Mrs. Franco was born on August 15, 1916 in Eagle Pass, Texas; the daughter of Jose Diaz and Petra Cortez. On April 16,1936 she was married to Alvaro C. Franco, Sr. in Mapimi, Durango, Mexico. She came to Artesia in 1949 from Fort Stockton, Texas. He preceded her in death December 3, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and by a brother Francisco Cortez. She was a housewife, and member of the Spanish Assembly of God, Head Start Grandparents Proqram, and the Spanish Assembly of God Womens Ministry. Survivors include sons Willie Franco and wife Lorenza of Artesia, Alvaro Franco, Jr. and wife Anna of Artesia, Frank C. Franco and wife Rosio of San Antonio, Texas, Javier C. Franco and wife Shirley of Artesia, Pete C. Franco and wife Margie of Artesia, and Raul C. Franco and wife Terry of Artesia; daughters Rosa Guerra and husband Jose of Toppenish, Wash., Rita Lugo and husband Thomas of Tucson, Arizona, Elva Luna and husband Larry of Carlsbad, N.M., and Vangie Kon and husband Dennis of Hobbs; a sister Candida Ortiz of Juarez, Mexico; 37 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
