Eugene Coor

Graveside services are scheduled at 10:00am, Wednesday, June 19th, at Woodbine Cemetery for Eugene K. Coor of Artesia New Mexico.

Eugene, 85, died Thursday, June 6th, 2013 in Houston, Texas.

Michael Joiner will officiate at the services.

Eugene was born November 30, 1927 in Brownfield, Texas: the son of Houston S. Coor and W. Lois Eastham Coor.

During World War II, Eugene joined the Merchant Marines he was only 17 and later served in the United States Army. At the end of the war he was stationed with the Army of Occupation in Okinawa, Japan.

Eugene was owneroperator of Coor Welding and Construction Services in Artesia, New Mexico until his retirement. He was an active member of Hermosa Drive Church of Christ, and was a past member of the Elks Club.

He had many hobbies but after retiring, Eugene took up golf, usually shooting well below his age. Generally he could be found with his many friends enjoying a round of golf at Artesia Country Club.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.

Survivors include son Jerry E. Coor and daughter inlaw, Charlene Coor of Austin, Texas sisters Juanita Hodgkinson of Alamogordo, New Mexico, and Norma LaDonne of Taylor, Texas.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Hermosa Church of Christ Ethiopian Water Well Project.
