Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Monday, July 16, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Espiridion John S. Hernandez of Artesia, New Mexico.
Mr. Hernandez, 94, died Friday, July 13, 2012 at his home.
Fr. Brian Guerrini, SS.CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Benjamin Herrera, Athena Valdez, Mano Fuentes, Bobby Trujillo, Cisco Lozano,and William Hernandez.
A rosay will be at Our Lady of Grace Sunday at 6:30 p.m.
Espiridion was born March 8, 1918 in Candelaria, Texas the son of Martin Hernandez and Apolonia Solis Hernandez. He came to Artesia in 1934 from Texas.
In November of 1944 he was married to Maria Balencia in Dayton, N.M.
Espiridion worked as a farm laborer with Horners farms and was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, three brothers, and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife Maria B. Hernandez of the family home daughters Jane Trujillo and husband Robert of Lovington, N.M., Margaret Chavarria of Artesia, Lupe Herrera and husband Anselmo of Artesia, Cuca Fuentes and husband Fred of Midland, Texas, and Sylvia Lozano and husband Demetrio of Denver City, Texas sons Espi Hernandez, Jr. and wife Mary Grace of Carlsbad, N.M., and Pete Hernandez and wife Juanita of Artesia 18 grandchildren 38 greatgrandchildren 3 greatgreatgrandchildren sisters Socorro Medina of Lovington, Juana Balencia of Artesia, and Martina Barrera of Artesia.
