Ernestina Salazar

Services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, at West Main Baptist Church for Ernestina Medrano Salazar of Artesia.

Mrs. Salazar, 71, died Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at her home.

Belton Mathews will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Medrano, Rudy Medrano, Ray Quiroz, Manuel Ramirez, Christopher Everett, Mario Regalado and David Ramirez Jr. Honorary Pallbearers are her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary on Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Ernestina was born July 31, 1944 in Presidio, Texas; the daughter of Hijinio Medrano and Serapia (Madrid) Medrano. She came to Artesia in 1978 from Roswell, NM.

On February 9, 1965 she was married to Rogelio Salazar in Roswell, NM.

She was a housewife and enjoyed crocheting, cooking, gardening, collecting knick knacks, and doing crossword puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and a sister.

Survivors include her husband Rogelio Salazar of Artesia; son Rogelio Salazar Jr. of Artesia; daughters Martha H. Salazar and Juan Bustamante of Artesia and Sylvia Martinez and husband Jesus of Artesia; brother Manuel Medrano of Hagerman, NM; sister Lupe Molina of Dexter, NM; grandchildren Rogelio V. Salazar III, Tiffany Salazar, Adriana Martinez, Anthony Martinez and wife Meghan, Alicia Salazar and Joshua Salazar; great-grandchildren Devyn Peterson and Aliyanah Sedillos.
