Ernestina Martinez

Services are scheduled at 9:30 A.M. Friday, January 28, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Ernestina Elias Martinez, 302 N. 4th St. Apt 103, Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Martinez, 86, died Monday, January 24, 2005 at her home. Father Paul Murtagh will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Mrs. Martinez was born November 7, 1918 in Presidio, Texas; the daughter of Jose Gutierez and Encarnacion Elias Gutierez. In 1938 she was married to George Martinez in Artesia. She came to Artesia in 1938 from Presidio, Texas. He preceded her in death Nov. 1969. She was a housewife and member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Apostolados, and Crusillo. A rosary is also scheduled for 6:30 P.M. Thursday at Our Lady of Grace Church. Preceded in death by her parents and husband. Survivors include sons Tony Martinez of Las Cruces, N.M., David Martinez of Carlsbad, N.M., Ricky Martinez of Tulare, Calif., and Ramon Martinez of Las Cruces; daughters Jane Luevano of Artesia, Rose Gill of Fresno, Calif., Margaret Franco of Artesia, Carmen Mariscal of Artesia, Angie Rodriguez of Artesia, and Gloria Delgado of Artesia; 38 grandchildren and 64 great-grandchildren.
