Services are scheduled at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 27, at House of Worship Church of God for Ernest Burl Perkins, Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Perkins, 74, died Monday, January 24, 2005 at Artesia Good Samaritan Center. Pastor Artie Cantrell will officiate at the services. Burial will take place at Woodbine Cemetery. Mr. Perkins was born February 17, 1930 in Roosevelt, Oklahoma; the son of Robert Virgil Perkins and Sally Jane Mansell Perkins. On July 15, 1950 he was married to Laurel Lemaster in Snyder, Oklahoma. He came to Artesia in July 1976 from Altus, Oklahoma. He was a Bookkeeper and member of House of Worship Church of God where he taught Sunday School. He was also a licensed Assemblies of God Minister, and member of the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife Laurel Perkins of the family home; son Ernest Burl Perkins II and wife Andrea of Clayton, Oklahoma; daughter Lanette Turner and husband Reginald of Artesia; brothers Robert Virgil Perkins Jr. and wife Sue of Wichita Falls, Texas, Bill Perkins and wife Carol of Antlers, Oklahoma, and Albert Perkins of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren Ernest Burl Perkins III of Clayton, Oklahoma, Skyelar Perkins of Durant, Oklahoma, Morgan Perkins of Gainesville, Florida, Gabe Turner of Las Cruces, N.M., and James Turner of Las Cruces; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial contributions may be made to the Artesia Church of God or the Artesia Good Samaritan Center.
