Ernest Morris

Graveside services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 22, at Woodbine Cemetery for Ernest L. Morris of Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Morris, 79, died Sunday, October 19, 2008 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. Pastor Michael A. Maurer will officiate at the services. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary Tuesday beginning at 10:00 a.m. Mr. Morris was born November 11, 1928 in Littlefield, Texas; the son of Jerome W. Morris and Ruby Long Morris. He served in the United States Army. He came to Artesia in 1996 from Midland, Texas. Ernest was a Carpenter and Cabinet Maker and a member of the Senior Citizen Center. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his son Gerald Morris of Stanton, Texas; daughter Brenda Jones and husband Johnnie of Loco Hills, N.M.; brother Ira Tom Morris of Henderson, Nevada; grandchildren Johnnie Jones and Trudie Hickman; great-grandchildren Jasmine Jones and Rhiannon Hickman.
