Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 27, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Erika Garza Viernes of 1103 W. Dallas, Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Viernes, 25, died Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at her home in Artesia. Fr. Richard Lifrak SS. CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jerry Viernes Jr., Nate Munoz, Ernesto Munoz, Joey Olivas, Mario Franco, and Richard Orosco. A rosary is also scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Monday, February 26, at Our Lady of Grace Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Terpening Son Chapel. Mrs. Viernes was born September 26, 1981 in Dallas, Texas; the daughter of Robert Garza and Maria Calderon Garza. On Oct. 22, 1998 she was married to Osmond 0ntiveros Viernes in Roswell, New Mexico. She came to Artesia in 2004 from Amarillo, Texas. She was a cook and dishwasher at Kwan Den and member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband, Osmond Ontiveros Viernes of the family home; son, Ismeal Luis Viernes of the family home; daughter, Elizabeth Garza Viernes of family home; mother, Maria T. Calderon Garza of Faben, Texas; step-father, Luis Quintana of El Paso, Texas; sisters, Elizabeth Garza of El Paso, Texas, Sandra Martinez and husband George of Arlington, Texas, Adela Morales and husband Martin of Arlington, Texas; grandfather, Lorenzo Calderon of Mexico; and numerous nieces and nephews of Arlington, Texas. Erika was preceded in death by her grandmother in Mexico.
