Services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Monday, September 13, at Terpening Son Mortuary for Emmitt L. Parker of Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Parker, 81, died Thursday, September 9, 2004 at his home. J. T. Ross and Michael Joiner will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Dennis Evans, Douglas Evans, Kevin Evans, Gerald Evans, Nanci Evans and Bucky Parent. Honorary pallbearers will be Shane Parker, Francis Parker, Jennifer Parker, Bridget Garcia and Monique Augden. Visitation at Terpening Son Mortuary will begin at 2:00 P.M. Sunday. Mr. Parker was born September 29, 1922 in Atoka, Oklahoma; the son of Lidge Parker and Lester Mills Parker. On October 5, 1943 he was married to Ellen Ruth Cox in McAlester, Okla. They came from Oklahoma to Artesia in 1947. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Parker was a trim carpenter and member of Hermosa Drive Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents; and by six brothers and two sisters. Survivors include his wife Ellen Ruth Parker of the family home; sons Preston Lee Parker and Lloyd M. Parker both of Rio Rancho, N.M.; daughters Trudy L. Evans of Lake Arthur, N.M. and Angie Robbins of Moriarty, N.M.; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
