Emma Bartley

Services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Thursday Jan. 8, 2015 at Immanuel Lutheran Church for Emma Bartley, Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Bartley, 92, died Monday, December 29, 2014 at Artesia General Hospital.

Rev. Andrew Dimit will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be John Broughton, Severo Quiroga, Dennis Stevens, Jerry Chaney, Greg Jacobs, and Nick Garcia.

Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary beginning at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 2, 2014

Emma was born November 25, 1922 in Carlisle, Pennsylvania; the daughter of John Herman and Blanche (Mentzer) Herman. She came to the Pecos valley in 1947.

On Oct. 7, 1945 she was married to Arthur Bartley in Carlisle, PA. He preceded her in death April 3, 2003.

She was a teacher and a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, she received her Bachelors Degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Indiana, Pennsylvania, and her Masters Degree from Eastern New Mexico University, she was also a member of the Artesia Educator's Association.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters Myra Jacobs and Betty Jane Mentzer.

Survivors include daughters Cindy Broughton and husband John of Cloudcroft, NM, and Keiko Sekiguchi of Japan; brother John W. Herman and wife Ruth of Carlisle, PA; grandchildren Nick Garcia of Artesia, Angela Hatfield of Cadiz, Kentucky, Teruhiko Sekiguchi and Kumiko Sekiguchi; great-granchildren Koryn and Ashlen Hatfield, and Emilly Garcia.
