Emilio Gonzales

Memorial services are scheduled at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 30, at First Baptist Church for Emilio Gonzales, 1109 Yucca Ave., Artesia, New Mexico. Emilio went to be with our Lord on Thursday, July 28, 2001 at Artesia General Hospital. Pastor Abelardo Bolanos will officiate at the services along with Joseph Tillery.

Emilio was born April 5, 1927 in Glencoe, N.M., the son of Ruben Gonzales and Doritia Salsberry Gonzales. He came to Artesia from Glencoe and married Rachel Alaniz on September 16, 1948. He was a retired employee of the Artesia Public Schools and a member of Primera Iglesia Bautista.

Emilio was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Prosperito Gonzales, seven sisters: Viola Reyes, Helen Chavez, Olivia Rodriguez, Oralia Hinojos, Oralia Pereas and Faye Gomez.

Survivors include his wife, Rachel of Artesia son Emilio Jr. Gonzales of Artesia daughters Lina Smith and husband John of Santa Fe, N.M., Rosemarry Barrera and husband Manny of Artesia, Nancy Jimenez and husband Bobby of Rio Rancho, N.M., Patsy Perez and husband Ruben of Artesia, Debbie Juarez and husband David of Artesia, Cathy Moor and husband Jim of Artesia, and Christi Champion and husband Jedd of Artesia brothers Ruben Gonzales and wife Manuela of Carlsbad, and Ray Gonzales of Artesia sisters Rufina Rodriguez of San Bernadino, California and Tillie Garcia and husband Temo of Artesia numerous grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
