Elodia Rivera

Services are scheduled at 9:00 AM Friday, July 6, at Trinity Temple Assembly of God for Elodia Alvarado Rivera, 320 W. Runyan Ave., Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Rivera, 84, died Monday, July 2, 2012 at Heartland Nursing Center.

Pastor Bobby Argo will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Manuel Rivera, Jr., Fredie Rivera Jr., Al Rivera Jr., Andres Hernandez Jr., Joe Molina, Mike Riek, Duncan Karr and J.D. Rivera. Honorary pallbearers will be Adrian Rivera, Tony Rivera, Joseph Arcidez, Genieve Rivera, Nick Rivera, Nathan Rivera, John Rivera and Hector Natividad.

Visitation at Terpening Son Mortuary will begin at 10:00 a.m. Thursday.

Elodia was born November 4, 1927 in Artesia, New Mexico the daughter of Pablo Alvarado and Rosa Bejarano Alvarado. She was a longtime resident of Artesia.

On Jan. 9, 1943 she was married to Reynaldo Rivera in Marfa, Texas. He preceded her in death January 15, 1991.

She was a housewife, a member of Trinity Temple Assembly of God, and a past member of Cursillistas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sons Jessie Rivera, Ramon Rivera, Leo Rivera, infant twins Raymond and Ramona, sisters Nancy Martinez and Emma Hernandez.

Survivors include sons Dr. Manuel Rivera of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Joe Rivera of Artesia, Fredie Rivera of Artesia, Albert Rivera of Midland, Texas, Julian Rivera of Artesia, and Martin Rivera of Artesia daughters Antonia Gutierrez of Roswell, NM, Viola Natividad of Albuquerque, NM, Betty Hernandez of Austin, Texas, Linda Molina of Midland, Lucy Gomez of Midland, and Rosemary Karr of Artesia brothers Sam Bejarano of Artesia, Daniel Bejarano of Artesia, and Gabino Bejarano of Artesia halfbrother Raymond Lopez of Artesia sister Hope Marquez of Artesia numerous grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
