Elizabeth McDonald Bach 81, passed way on September 11, 2008 in Lubbock, Texas at the Quail Ridge AlzhemierCare Center where she had been residing the past five months. Funeral Services for Elizabeth McDonald Bach will be conducted on Monday, September 15 at West Main Baptist Church in Artesia, NM, at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Dr. J. Mark Robinson officiating. Interment will be in the family plot in Woodbine Cemetery, under the direction of Terpening Mortuary. Elizabeth was born February 19, 1927 in the community of Pledger, Texas near Roby, Texas. Her parents were C. Oliver and Gertrude Mitchell McDonald. She is survived by her sister Wanda Draper and husband Leonard, of El Paso, Texas; brother-in-law Albert Bach and wife Wilma of Artesia; sister-in-law Evelyn Coughenour of Tucumcari, NM; three nieces, four nephews and 8 great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by loyal and faithful friends, Faye Vamer and sons and Helario Estela Saiz and family. She was known as Auntie through the years by her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Emil P. Bach, Jr., her parents and brother Charles. Emil and Elizabeth were married July 7, 1948 in the First Baptist Church of Artesia. They farmed and ranched in this area all their married life. Elizabeth graduated from the Artesia High School and was a devoted follower of the Bulldogs through out her life. Elizabeth was an Artesia Public School employee for 36 years until her retirement in 1986. After retiring from the schools, she managed the Artesia Schools Credit Union for five years and retired in 1991. Elizabeth was a member of West Main Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years, touching the lives and hearts of many of those involved in her bible studies. She was a member of the Artesia School Office Personnel Organization as well as the New Mexico School Office Personnel Organization. She was a member of the Ladies Community Bible Study Group for many years. Elizabeth loved flowers and spent time through the years working in her yard. She was an excellent seamstress and designed and made her wedding gown. She had a wonderful gift of giving love to others, and will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know her. She shared her love of travel .with her 7 nieces and nephews escorting them on trips of their choice to locations around the globe as they completed their educations. She has written several books about the trips she was fortunate to experience with her nieces nephews. After those trips she and her traveling companion, Faye Pittman Varner traveled around our wonderful country on a number of tours. Pallbearers will be Joel Bach, Clinton Draper, Michael Draper, Ray Draper, David Pittman, Donnie Pittman and Bert Varner. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the ministries of West Main Baptist Church, P.O. Box 242 Artesia, New Mexico 88211-0242.
