Elias Loya

Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 31, at Hope United Methodist Church for Elias Loya, 2609 Holland Lane, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Mr. Loya, 54, died Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Rev. Jean Riley will officiate at the services with burial at the Upper Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Sam Loya, Eddie Loya, Joe Calderon, Leland Shook, George Martinez and Mike Flores. Honorary pallbearers will all of his co-workers at Roadrunner Environmental Services. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary beginning at 10 a.m. Thursday. Mr. Loya was born October 16, 1954 in Chihuahua, Mexico; the son of Raymond Loya and Mercedes Mendoza Loya. He came to Artesia in 1961 from Mexico. He was a truck driver and member of the Methodist denomination. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother. Survivors include his mother Mercedes Loya of Carlsbad; sons Sam Loya of Roswell, N.M., and Eddie Loya of Roswell; brother Edmond Loya of Jal, N.M.; sisters Alice Martinez of Carlsbad, and Elva Loya of Hagerman, N.M.; numerous nieces and nephews.
