Services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 6 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Elia Delgado Maldonado, 202 W. Logan Ave., Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Maldonado, 54, died Sunday, March 3, 2002 at Artesia General Hospital. Father Alcuin Hunter will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jesse Fuentes, Ruben Fuentes, Jr., Lee Delgado, Eloy Nanez, Manuel Maldonado, Jr., and Terry Colwell, Jr. All nieces, nephews and God-Children have been designated at honorary pallbearers. A Rosary service is also planned for 7:30 P.M. Tuesday at Our Lady of Grace. Mrs. Maldonado was born September 17, 1947 in Artesia; the daughter of Albert Delgado, Sr. and Manuela Mendoza Delgado. On March 15, 1964 she was married to Oscar M. Maldonado, Sr. in Artesia. She was a homemaker; a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and was a cook at La Salsa. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter Sarah Lee Maldonado and by a brother Ismael Delgado. Survivors include her husband Oscar M. Maldonado, Sr. of the family home; grandmother Natividad Mendoza of Wilcox, Ariz.; a son Oscar M. Maldonado, Jr. of Albuquerque, N.M.; daughters Elida M. Martinez and husband Fernando of Artesia, Carol Alvarado and husband Ferman of Las Cruces, N.M. and Maria Maldonado-Merjil and husband Pablo of Artesia; brothers Isaias Delgado of Artesia and Albert Delgado and Steve Delgado both of Roswell, N.M.; sisters Angie D. Fuentes of Carlsbad, N.M., Jane D. Ornelas of Artesia and Elsie D. Goodwin of Odessa, Texas; and grandchildren Ethan Alvarado and Nathan Martinez.
