Services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 6, at Terpening Son Mortuary for longtime Artesia resident Elaine Johnson of Albuquerque. Mrs. Johnson, 94, died Saturday, February 2, 2008 in Albuquerque. Rev. Rick Sullivan will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons Gerome Black, Jeff Gibson, Chalk Drake, Mike Honea, Jerry Wallace, and James Lamoureux . Visitation at Terpening Son Mortuary will begin at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday. Mrs. Johnson was born September 27, 1913 in Hall County, Texas, the daughter of John E. Kingery and Docia M Vincil Kingery. On May 12, 1932 she was married to Solon Debs Johnson in Aspermont, Texas. They came to Artesia in 1969 from Pecos, Texas. He preceded her in death June 6, 1995. She moved to Albuquerque in 2006. She was a homemaker and member of Methodist denomination . Mrs. Johnson was also preceded in death by her parents; by daughters Nadine Black and Glenda Lodge; and by 2 sisters and three brothers. Survivors include a daughter Nell Gibson and husband Jack of Albuquerque; a son-in-law G. C. Black of Andrews, Texas; grandchildren Gerome Black and wife Cindy of Seminole, Texas, Jeff Gibson and wife Bonny of Albuquerque, Trudee Reed and husband Dwayne of Monahans, Texas, Vickie Huddleston of Dallas, Texas, Larraine Drake and husband Chalk of Artesia, Charlotte Honea and husband Mike of Amarillo, Texas, DeNette Wallace and husband Jerry of Artesia, and Althea Lamoureux and husband James of Albuquerque; 14 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the Old Glory School Foundation, Old Glory, Texas. The family will be receiving friends at 1807 Jacobs.
