Elaine Horner

Services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, at First Baptist Church for Elaine Horner, Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Horner, 73, died Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas.

Rick Sullivan will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Brandon Horner, Timothy Horner, Jarrod Moreau, Brian Haller, P.J. Kalisek and Ross Horner. Honorary pallbearers will be all of her nephews. Married Cloyce Glen "Jelly" Horner on March 3, 2001.

Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary beginning at 11 a.m. Friday.

Elaine was born February 26, 1941 in Portales, New Mexico; the daughter of Carlton James Carmichael and Clara (Roberson) Carmichael. She came to Artesia in June 1958.

On Feb. 2, 1959 she was married to Bill Horner in Artesia. He preceded her in death Nov. 3, 1998. On March 3, 2001 she was married to Cloyce Glen "Jelly" Horner.

She was a math teacher at Park Junior High for 25 years. She received her Masters of Educaiton from ENMU. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Delta Kappa Gamma and the Retired Teachers Association.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son R.C. Horner.

Survivors include her husband Cloyce Glen "Jelly" Horner; children Billy Horner and wife Pam, Frances Moreau and husband George, Aaron Horner and wife Sandra all of Artesia, Steve Horner, Michael Horner and wife Jill, and Karyn Reyna; a brother Jim Carmichael and wife Edna of Albuquerque, NM; a sister Ila Nettesheim and husband Kilian of Artesia; grandchildren Christen Lilly, Brandon Horner and wife Becca, Timothy Horner, Staci Horner, Amy Horner, Jarrod Moreau and wife Tabatha; great-grandchildren Adler Horner, Maddox Horner, Jamey Kennemur, Emilee Kennemur, and Charles Moreau; numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Greater Artesia Foundation Bill Horner Scholarship Fund, The Assurance Home of Roswell or charity of your choice.
