Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, at First Baptist Church for Eireen G. Carson, 705 W. Hermosa Drive, Artesia, New Mexico. PMrs. Carson, 71, died Monday, May 21, 2007 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. PRev. Rick Sullivan will officiate at the services. Burial will be at the Lovington Cemetery, Lovington, NM at 3 p.m. Wednesday. Pallbearers will be Bill Gray, Tom Brown, Jack Reid, Philip Mills, Chris Pruitt, Blaize Campanella, and Johnny Nelson. Honorary pallbearers will be A.J. Losee, James Haas, Lex Klein, Johnny King, James Rogers, Bob Hendrickson, Dee Merritt, Fred Hansen and Ed Perry. Visitation at Terpening amp; Son Mortuary will begin at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 29. PMrs. Carson was born May 3, 1936 in Artesia, New Mexico; the daughter of Frank Marshall and Ruthe Hogan Marshall. POn April 10, 1968 she was married to Joel Carson in Artesia, NM. She was a lifelong resident of Artesia. PShe was a Teacher for the Artesia Public Schools and a Realtor with Watson Real Estate. She was a member of First Christian Church, served two times as President of the P.E.O. Sisterhood Chapter J, member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, American Association of University Women, enjoyed playing bridge, and was the mother of five children who all graduated from college with one or more degrees. PShe was preceded in death by her parents. PSurvivors include her husband Joel Carson of the family home; sons Steven Messmer of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Ron Carson of Roswell, N.M., Reese Carson of Las Cruces, N.M., and Joel Carson III and wife Karen of Roswell; daughter Michelle Matthews of Artesia; sister Eileen Richardson of Artesia; grandchildren James Matthews, Jacob Matthews, Reese Carson II, Joel Carson IV, and Christopher Carson.
Memorial contributions may be made to the N.M. Boys and Girls Ranch or First Christian Church.
