Effie Montgomery

Services are scheduled at 2:00 P.M. Monday, May 20 at Faith Baptist Church for Effie L. Montgomery, 2303 W. Grand Ave., Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Montgomery, 72, died Friday, May 17, 2002 in Artesia. Eddy LaRue will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Montgomery, Keith Jackson, Justin Montgomery, Randall Montgomery Tyler Schulz and Raymond Clark. Mrs. Montgomery was born January 12, 1930 in Hollis, Oklahoma; the daughter of William F. Martin and Martha Randall Martin. She came to Artesia in 1941. On October 25, 1947 she was married to Trosper Smoky Montgomery in Roswell, N.M. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; one sister and a grandson Earl Montgomery. Survivors include her husband Smokey Montgomery of the family home; daughters Donna Blevins and husband Bobby of Artesia and Linda Jackson and Bob Burton of Artesia; sons Tommy Montgomery and wife Brenda of Artesia and Danny Montgomery and wife Peggy of Pinon, N.M.; sisters Alta Walker of Artesia and Billie Laman and husband Cecil of Artesia; brothers Jimmie Martin and wife Nila of Artesia and Willie Martin and wife Betty of Las Vegas, Nev.; grandchildren Tracy Schulz, Amy Smith, John Montgomery, Callie Callaway, Randal Montgomery, Justin Montgomery, Keith Jackson and Jennifer Gregory; and 16 great-grandchildren.
