Edythe James

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 3, at Trinity Temple Assembly of God for Edythe James of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. James went to be with the Lord Wednesday, June 1, 2016 from Artesia General Hospital.

Bobby Argo will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eydie Harrell, Melissa Holly, Tambra Sanders, Leticia Garcia, Terry Pruett, and Shawn Lavery.

Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary Thursday beginning at 2:00 p.m.

Edythe was born July 30, 1929 in Bell County, Texas to Wert Renfro Shelton and Margie Kathryn (Boone) Shelton.

On September 11, 1953, she was married to Clarence "Tex" James in Lordsberg, N.M. They moved to Artesia 57 years ago from Texas.

Edythe was a homemaker and a member of Trinity Temple. She also loved to spend time with her kids and her grandchildren. Her family was her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sons Wayne and James Reed; a sister; and four brothers.

Survivors included her husband Clarence of the family home; daughters Kathy, Connie, and Margie; sons Alton, Hobi, and Kodey; brothers Benny Shelton and Buddy Jo Barber; 16 grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
