Edward Vernon Watson, age 90, passed away on May 17, 2012 in Lubbock, Texas. He was born in Hope, New Mexico, on October 13, 1921. During World War II, he served for a time in General George S. Pattons 3RD Army in Europe. He was deployed in the Pacific Theater for the final months of the war. His passing further diminishes the ranks of The Greatest Generation, who sacrificed tremendously for the freedoms we now enjoy.
PEdward is survived by his daughter Mona Wiley husband Casey of Lubbock, Texas son Greg Watson wife Kathy of Ridgecrest, California son Raun Watson of Lansing, Kansas granddaughter Dawn Pace husband Bruce grandsons Neal and Eric Watson granddaughter Kelly Watson and greatgrandson Blaine Pace. He is also survived by one brother, Eugene Watson wife Jackie of Flora Vista, New Mexico.
PHe was an honorable man, a faithful and devoted husband, a great father, and a devout Christian. Throughout his adult lifetime, he continued to draw closer to God in his daily walk. His Christianity was sincere, purposeful, reverent, and sacrificial. Romans 12 describes him well he was a living sacrifice. He desired for himself and all other people to someday hear the words, Well done, good and faithful servant
PA funeral service will be held at Sanders Funeral Home in Lubbock, Texas, on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. Bruce Pace will officiate. Burial will be at City of Lubbock Cemetery.
