Edward Canales

Services are scheduled for 10 am Thursday, August 1, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Edward "Buddha" Canales of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Canales, 61, died on July 24, 2024 at his home in Artesia.

Father Vijay will officiate at the services with burial to follow at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Luis Gabaldon, Andres Aguilar, Lupe Ruiz, Juan Garza, Carlos Ornelas, Michael Madrid, Mark Canales, and Steve Martinez. A rosary is also scheduled for 9:30 am on Thursday at Our Lady of Grace Church.

Edward was born on March 7, 1963 in Artesia; the son of Daniel Canales and Manuela Martinez Canales. He was a lifelong resident of Artesia.

He loved music and playing dominoes. He was a people person and never met a stranger. Edward enjoyed playing and coaching co-ed softball for many years, and he was a die hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents Daniel and Manuela Canales.

Survivors include his sons Daniel Canales and wife Gail, and Edward Canales II and wife Darian; a step-daughter Santana Garcia; brothers Armando Canales, Lupe Canales and wife Irene, and Ernesto Canales and wife Rosemary; sisters Sandra Canales, Yolanda Canales, Lucy Aguilar and husband Regino, Priscilla Canales, Veronica Canales, and Beatrice Gabaldon and husband Luis; also by grandchildren Ylliana, Mari, King Gino, Sebastian and Calliope.
