Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 18, at Faith Baptist Church for Edith Buchanan Devine, R234 N. Bolton Road, Artesia, New Mexico. PMrs. Buchanan, 70, died Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at her home. PRev. J. B. Craft will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Danny Forlines, Joe Greenwood, Gary Greenwood, Keenan Kern, Eddie Foster and Devin Forlines. Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandsons and all nephews. PVisitation will be at Terpening amp; Son Mortuary beginning at 10 am. Thursday. PMrs. Buchanan was born January 13, 1939 in Morton, Texas; the daughter of Lloyd Newman and Edith Hawk Newman. She was a lifelong resident of Artesia. POn Jan. 19, 1957 she was married to Jack D. Buchanan in Artesia. He preceded her in death April 29, 1998. PShe was married to Frank Devine on Jan. 17, 2004 in Pinon, N.M. He preceded her in death Nov. 20, 2008. PShe was a meat wrapper for Safeway and as a young lady worked at Buck's Cafe and numerous other jobs. She was a member of the Pinon Baptist Church, and Easter Star. She loved her family, friends, bluegrass musicians and music. She held a special place in her heart for her earthly angels J.B. Craft, John Brown, Milton Menefee and Diane Heady. PShe was preceded in death by her husbands, her parents, a son Doyle Ray Buchanan, and sisters Betty Farrell Newman, Johnnie Belle Newman and Judy Ann Newman.
Survivors include daughters Karen Forlines and husband Danny of Artesia, and Kathy Greenwood and husband Joe of Artesia; brothers Donald Newman and wife Lila of Olathe, Kansas, and Frank Newman of Eunice, N.M.; sisters Mary Scott and husband Fred of Midland, Texas, and Opal Deaton of Artesia; brothers-in-law Richard Buchanan and wife Maxine of Wheatridge, Colo., and Orthell Kinnibrugh of Artesia; sisters-in-law Faye Kinnibrugh of Hobbs, N.M.,and Norma Buchanan of Las Cruces, N.M.; grandchildren Jennifer Kern and husband Keenan, Carrie Greenwood, Jackie Foster and husband Eddie, Jamie Forlines, Gary Greenwood and wife Su'Ann all of Artesia, and Christopher Buchanan and Cara Buchanan of Texas; seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews
