Douglass Garrett

December 19, 1932 — April 14, 2014

Graveside services are scheduled at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 17, at Woodbine Cemetery, Artesia, NM, for Douglass D. Garrett. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary beginning at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The family will receive friends from 58 p.m. at the mortuary.

Doug passed away in his home in Tyler, Texas on Monday, April 14, 2014.

He was born on December 19, 1932 to Ridley and Earlene Garrett in Graham, Texas. He married Edna Ruth Sharp on June 27, 1952.

Doug served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He also served many years in the New Mexico National Guard. He was a teacher at Roselawn Elementary School for many years.

Survivors include his sons Kenny Garrett and wife Debbie of Artesia, and Tony Garrett and wife Teresa of Tyler, Texas grandchildren Kortney Garrett and wife Megan, Joshua Garrett and wife Tammy, Kenzie Taylor and husband Brandt, Taylor Rath and husband Hunter, Kelsie Sanchez and husband Jesus greatgrandchildren Bryant Bilberry, Kaleb Garrett, Logan Garrett, Easton Taylor, Kaydence Garrett, Parker Garrett, and Embree Taylor.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
