Douglas Miller

Memorial services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 7 at Terpening & Son Mortuary Chapel for Douglas Dale Miller of Artesia.

Mr. Miller, 46, passed away on October 4, 2017 at his home in Artesia, New Mexico.

Tim Arlett will officiate at the service. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary.

Douglas was born on December 21, 1970 in Fairmont, West Virginia; the son of Patricia Miller.

Douglas Dale Miller was so proud of a niece that had the same birthday as he except 38 years later. Her name is Paige Van Bibber. Douglas was stationed in Germany for 3 years. He loved to go to the Mannheim and go to see the castles while there. Douglas and Lori Schafer were married for nearly 13 years. Out of that marriage he had two beautiful children, twin daughter Haylee Dawn and twin son Hayden Douglas. On June 11, 2010 Douglas married Melissa Bliss who was a single mother of one son Austin Bliss. The two had one son together Seth Nicholas Miller who is very special along with Austin Bliss. He loved his twins and these two boys. He also has a son William Tice who lives in New York with his mother whom Douglas hasn't seen since he was 2 years old but had recently been speaking with him on the phone.

In 1972 Douglas's mother married Mark A. Van Bibber from Kentucky. In 1976 they moved to Artesia and in 1977 Mark adopted Douglas. In 1982 Patricia went into the Army and her brother Marvin E. Miller Jr. and Doreene Helms Miller adopted Douglas. Douglas was always in his natural mother's life and moved to Ohio to be with her in 2001. Then in 2003 he moved back to Artesia with her. He worked with several oil field companies for 11 years. He worked at Walmart for a little over 2 years when he was called back into the oil field in January 2017. He lived with his mother and step-father Jesse Hernandez up until his passing. Through his life he had several girlfriends but there is two that are very special to Patricia and Jesse and that is Donna Adams of Artesia and Cathy Corbett of Rio Rancho.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother Elizabeth Lee Miller and a cousin Elizabeth Nichole Edwards.

Survivors include his mother Patricia Hernandez of the family home; adopted parents Marvin E. Miller Jr. and Doreen Miller of Fairmont, WV; twins Haylee Dawn Miller and Hayden Douglas Miller of Fairmont, WV; sons William George Tice of Govenor, NY, Seth Nicholas Miller-Bliss of Cottonwood, NM and Austin Bliss of Artesia, NM; brothers Christopher Michael Van Bibber of Ashland, KY, Marvin E. Miller III and Frederick Blaine Miller of Fairmont, WV; and grandfather Marvin E. Miller of Fairmont, WV.
