Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 20, at Terpening amp; Son Chapel for Dorothy J. Savoie-Box of Artesia, New Mexico. PMrs. Box, 91, died Thursday, January 15, 2009 at the Artesia Good Samaritan Center. PWayne Bedingfield will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. PVisitation will be at Terpening amp; Son Mortuary Monday beginning at 10:00 a.m. PMrs. Box was born August 16, 1917 in Corona, New Mexico; the daughter of Frank Allen Melton and Mary Ellen Cox Melton. PDorothy was a lifelong resident of the Artesia area. POn October 17, 1936 she was married to Frank G. Savoie in Artesia. He preceded her in death on October 11, 1975. On August 30, 1976 she married Nolan Box in Carlsbad, N.M. He preceded her in death on September 29, 1994. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; a brother; two sons Frankie Wayne Savoie, and Marshall Lynn Savoie. PShe last worked as a Cafeteria Server for the Artesia School District, and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her daughters Evelyn Howard and husband Dwaine of Roswell, N.M., Peggy Beck of Ft. Sumner, N.M., and Janice Sanders and husband Mike of Artesia; son Danny Savoie of Louisville, Texas; sisters Margie Davis of Carlsbad, N.M., and Oleta Barnhill of Hemet, California; brother Charles Alvin Melton of Georgetown, Texas; grandchildren Debra Carre of Loco Hills, N.M., Dwanna Casabonne of Hope, N.M., Susan Kinnibrugh of Artesia, Brenda Howard of Odessa, Texas, Denise Beck of Ft. Sumner, Jody Jacks of Ft. Sumner, and Shane Savoie of Smithville, Texas; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
