Dorothy Elrod

A memorial service will held at a later date for Dorothy Fay Elrod of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Elrod, 89, died December 9, 2020 at her home in Artesia.

Cremation will take place under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary.

Dorothy was born June 7, 1931 in Sanger TX to George Saltsman and Ruby Bland Saltsman.

She was married to Mat Elrod on June 30, 1949 in Sanger. They came to Artesia in July 1969. He preceded her in death on April 29, 2014.

She was a waitress at Abo Drug for eight years and was also a baby sitter for many years. She was a member of Hermosa Dr. Church of Christ, volunteered at the Outreach Center, loved to read and work Word Search puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 sisters and 2 brothers, great-grandson Jaylon Earl.

She is survived by her sons John David Elrod, and Deryl Elrod and wife Nancy; daughter Donna Clark and husband Raymond; a sister Mary Jane Joyner; grandchildren Michele Garcia, Shaun Elrod, Lisa Elrod, Joshua Elrod, Staci Guy and husband Reggie, Erin Earl and husband J.J., Dustin Teel, Jacob Teel and wife Tasia, Andrew Teel and wife Stephanie, Lucas Clark, Rimiro Frescas and Adriana Frescas; 17 great-grandchildren.
