Services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, April 28, at First United Methodist Church for Dorothy Butts Barnes, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Mrs. Barnes, 91, died Saturday, April 23, 2005 at Landsun Hospice in Carlsbad. Rev. Paul Dean Duerksen will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Bill Gray, Larry Branch, Billy Troublefield, Lynn Troublefield, Glenn Troublefield, and Jerry Plattor. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary beginning 10:00 A.M. Wednesday. Mrs. Barnes was born June 10, 1913 in Hebron, Nebraska; the daughter of T. E. Dutch Miller and Leah Fitzpatrick Miller. On December 20, 1936 she was married to Donald Butts in Boise, Idaho. He preceded her in death in February of 1976. She came to Artesia in 1939 from Nebraska. In 1987 she was married to Johnnie Barnes in Artesia. He preceded her in death in 1992. She was a Co-owner of Butts Moving Storage and member of First United Methodist Church, and Altrusa where she held all offices. Survivors include a son Jerry Butts of Artesia; a daughter Sandra Troublefield of Largo, Florida; grandchildren Stacy Wallace of Artesia, Donna Carnley of Arlington, Washington, Vicki Ezell of Bonney Lake, Washington, and Bobby Troublefield of Timberon, N.M.; several great-grandchildren. Memorial Contributions may be made to Landsun Homes, Hospice, or National Parkinson's Foundation.
