Donny Powell

Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Friday, June 21, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Donny Clay Powell of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Powell, 59, died Sunday, June 16, 2013.

Fr. Paul Murtagh, SS.CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Adam Lara, Art Ortega, Chris Lara, Gary Ryback, Kevin Duncan, and David Hernandez. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Fernandez, Lance Wilbanks, Don Willard, Gage Simer, Wesley Havens, Walter Powell, Larry Galindo, and Riley Tucker.

Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary Thursday beginning at 10:00 a.m. A rosary will be at Our Lady of Grace Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

Donny was born December 23, 1953 in Carlsbad, New Mexico the son of Lewis Powell and Bobbi Dean Powell. He was a lifelong Artesia resident.

On February 21, 2004 he was married to Susanna Gomez in Artesia.

Donny was a truck pusher and was employed with Willbanks Trucking for 25 years. He was a member of St. Anthonys Catholic Church and loved boating, fishing, motorcycling and was an avid outdoorsman.

He was preceded in death by his parents brother Tommy Powell, and sister Joy Powell.

Survivors include his wife Susanna Powell of the family home daughters Deana Weaver and husband Shaun of Artesia, Jerri Salinas and husband Javier of Victoria, Texas, and Corrie Reidy and husband Greg of Bastrop, Texas brother Bobby Powell and wife Laurel of Oklahoma sister Carolyn Russell and husband Charlie of Odessa, Texas grandchildren Jeremy and Justin Iarossi, Meaghann Gillerz, Gage Simer, Katelin Pennington, Riley Tucker, and Haley Powell.
