Donald Mcdaniel

Services are scheduled at 2:00 P.M. Monday, August 3, at Terpening Son Chapel for Donald A. McDaniel of Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. McDaniel, 66, died Monday, July 27, 2009 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. Rev. J. B. Craft will officiate at the services. Interment will be at Woodbine Cemetery with Veteran's Graveside Rites. Pallbearers will be Chad Jackson, Tracy Richardson, Tom Kelley, Richard Forrest, Randy Taylor, and Darrell Atkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Taylor, Lowell Irby, Ed Patterson, Larry Thompson, Ruben Cordero, Sr., and Mike Salmon. Mr. McDaniel was born April 13, 1943 in Waco, Texas; the son of William McDaniel and Dorothy Marsh McDaniel. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. On March 21, 1980 he was married to Lauranne Reynolds in Carlsbad, N.M. He came to Artesia 35 years ago from Roswell, N.M. He was an OwnerOperator of McDaniel Trucking for 23 years. Don enjoyed gardening and sharing his pecans with family and friends all over the country. Most importantly he loved his family especially his grandchildren. Don was preceded in death by his parents; brother Keith McDaniel; and sister Charline Junek. Survivors include his wife Lauranne McDaniel of the family home; son Waylon McDaniel and wife Rebecca of Maplesville, Alabama; sisters Marie Ross and husband George of Carthage, Texas, and Margie Toliver and husband Richard of Baytown, Texas; brothers Alfred McDaniel and wife Elizabeth of Tyler, Texas, and Oliver McDaniel and wife Lana of Willis, Texas; grandchildren Kyle, Cory, Collin, and Ethan McDaniel, and Crystal Bittle all of Maplesville, Alabama; a deeply loved and respected aunt and uncle JD and Christine Marsh; numerous nieces and nephews.
