Donald Kennedy

Donald Kennedy, 80, passed away Monday, June 28, in Dallas, Texas, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Cremation has taken place and the family and friends will gather at a later date for a private graveside service.

Don was born August 22, 1940, in Kermit, Texas, to Donald A. and Mary T. Kennedy. They, along with family members, owned the A & D Grocery in Artesia where Don worked alongside his parents for many years. Don and his sister, Carolyn, learned their work ethic from the positive role models of their parents.

Don and Margaret (Maggie) Brown were married in Dallas and had one son, Donald Christopher Kennedy, who survives both his parents. Don is also survived by his daughter-in-law Tracey, grandsons Jachary and Zander Kennedy, and by his sister Carolyn (Sherill) Shearman of Artesia. Preceding him in death were his parents and wife Maggie.

Don was a proud Freemason, a lifetime member the 32nd Degree Master Masons, and was the Lodge Leader of the Garland, Texas, Freemasons. He was an avid hunter and a former President of the Texas NRA. He loved his family fiercely and was proud to be an American.
