Mr. Billips, 66, died Sunday, December 29, 2013 at Artesia General Hospital.

Cremation is under direction of Terpening Son Mortuary.

Donald was born November 25, 1947 in Artesia, New Mexico the son of Lon Billips and Mary Marie Wheeler Billips. He was a lifelong Artesia resident.

He served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict.

On February 10, 1988 he was married to Jackie Glaze in Roswell, N.M.

He was a long hauler truck driver and an avid outdoorsman including hunting and fishing.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents and some uncles.

Survivors include his wife Jackie Billips of the family home daughters Beverly Garlets and husband Richard of Artesia, Paula Rene Palmer and husband Jeff, Crystal Dawn, and Patsy Cogburn of Yuma, Arizona sons Donald A. Dakota of Ishening, Michigan, Wesley Lon Billips of Colorado, Donald Dwayne Billips of Artesia, Dee Jay Billips and wife Jennifer of Artesia, Tee Jay Billips of Artesia, and Shayne Hardesty of Ruidoso, N.M. 14 grandchildren 2 greatgrandchildren brother Eugene Billips of Artesia and sister Paula Jean Clark of Artesia.
