Don Darnell

Graveside services are scheduled at 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 28, at Twin Oaks Memorial Park for Don Darnell, of Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Darnell, 74, died Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at his home. Rev. Wayne Derrick of Maljamar, New Mexico will officiate at the services. Pallbearers will be Clarence Sperling, Bob Waugh, Brandon Brown, Ronnie Derrick, Joby Sallee, and Wesley Kelsey. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary, Sunday, beginning at 2:00 P.M. Mr. Darnell was born February 24, 1931 in Bonham, Texas; the son of James E. Darnell, Sr. and Daisy Probst Darnell. On Jan. 10, 1954 he was married to Ethel Corbett in Newport News, Virginia. He came to Artesia in December of 1969 from Carlsbad, New Mexico. She preceded him in death Aug. 8, 1990. He served in the ARMY during the Korean War. He was a Lab Technician for Navajo Refinery. He was of the Methodist denomination, and a member of the Moose lodge of Artesia. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother. Survivors include his daughter Pam Brown and husband Rufus of Maljamar, N.M.; brother Lewis Darnell and wife Faye of Denninson, Texas; sister Mozell Coplen of Spencer, Oklahoma; grandchildren Brandon Brown of Tatum, N.M., and Angie Derrick and husband Ronny of Artesia; great-grandchildren ALia Derrick, and Conager Derrick both of Artesia.
